An Ultrasonic Pest Repellent
The best pest repellent may be a clean, sealed house, but sometimes even the best prevention can't keep pests away. Fleas only feed on blood: when a house is vacated, some sense keeps them from hatching on schedule. They remain in their cocoons, safe in the carpet or upholstery, until new occupants arrive. The ability of fleas to wait in suspended animation protects them when homeowners are on vacation: once you get home, they hatch and begin to feed on pets and people alike.
Ants may nest under the house or inside walls, or they may only enter the home during spells of hot or wet weather. If you suspect that ants are only temporary visitors, keep cat and dog food in the refrigerator and the floors swept and mopped. Keep food crumbs off tables, counters and floors.
For an herbal pest repellent, place peppermint oil or fresh leaves near places where ants are gaining entry: cinnamon oil may also deter ants. Pest repellent doesn't have to be a poison: pests can be deterred by strong herbal oils or high-frequency sounds.
A high-frequency device can be an excellent addition to your pest repellent arsenal. Using tones outside normal hearing range for people and pets, ultrasonic devices create havoc among insects and rodents. The sound affects them like a siren, driving them from the house. An electromagnetic function even sends the tones through the house wiring, so pests have nowhere to go. Your house becomes uninhabitable; the ultimate pest repellent.
